What to expect and do in your first week

Welcome to @company.name! We’re so excited to have you here.

Take these actions in your first week

Get your equipment and accounts set up

Have a designated workspace and ensure you have the right setup. Make sure to:

  • Reach out to our IT team at [email address/Slack channel] if you have any tech trouble.
  • Work with @manager.name to get access to appropriate files, information, tasks, deadlines, updates, news, and more.
  • Understand how to use our communication tools including email, Slack, Zoom, and Confluence.

Complete onboarding paperwork

This includes benefits, payroll, personal information, emergency contacts, and more. Reach out to [People Operations] with any questions.

Learn about our company culture

We want you to feel welcomed and assured about how and why we do things at @company.name. Review our employee handbook [LINK] and our company values [LINK].

You’ll have these meetings in your first week

  • First day 1-1. Chat with @manager.name about the company’s history and values, make sure you have the right access, tools, and set-up, and are settling in.
  • Team meal. Gather for a meal with your team to say hello and get to know one another.
  • Mid-week 1-1. @manager.name will provide you an overview of current projects and goals, and share your 60-day plan with you.
  • Time with teammates. @manager.name has set up calendar invites for you to meet with fellow teammates or cross-department collaborators that you will interact with frequently. Get to know each other and learn what they do.
  • Friday “First Week Recap.” Time at the end of your first week to connect with @manager.name to chat about your week one experience, if you are clear on expectations for week two, and any other questions or concerns you have.

Remember, you're in learning mode!

In your first week, we expect that you will ask questions and take time to get up to speed. Your manager is here for you, so if you don't understand something, just ask! Welcome to the team.
