Check in with @manager.preferredName, a new manager in your area

@manager.preferredName was just promoted to people manager! Check in with them when you have a moment this week, they’ll value your support. 

Send them a short email or Slack message this week. For example, you could say: 

Congratulations on your promotion! I’m happy to have your leadership on the team and look forward to supporting you during this transition. Feel free to reach out anytime for help or with questions.

Next time you meet with them, start a dialogue with them about their experience being a people manager so far. Ask them questions like:

  • What’s something that would help you with this transition? Books, resources, training, mentorship, etc?
  • Is there anyone you’d like to speak with or introductions I can make that would help you?
  • What one thing you’re learning? 
  • What would you like to learn in the future?

Let them know you’re not looking for a right answer (there is none!) - These questions are just meant to help provoke their learning and promote a growth mindset that will help them in the future. Thank you for supporting @manager.preferredName as they become a manager with @company.name.
